The other objective achieved: a Family of 29 players and 7 official rookies

A total of 29 players have done their bit in qualifying Spain for the 2023 World Cup. Of them, 5 have experienced their senior international debut in an official match at this stage. It is the other goal achieved in these 14 games: “The growth of the players, their involvement in our family at a human, technical, tactical level, to broaden the base of those eligible and have direct sensations of players who come from our youth academy”, in the words of the coach, Sergio Scariolo.

There have been 29 players who have put their grain of sand in the brilliant classification of Spain for the 2023 World Cup, sealed this Monday in Huelva, with the last two days of the second phase to go, with a balance of 12 victories in 14 matches. Of all of them, 7 have lived in these Windows their debut as absolute internationals in an official match: Yankuba Sima, Jaime Pradilla, Dani Pérez, Juan Núñez, Eric Vila, Pep Busquets and Lorenzo Brown.

The qualifying phase for the 2023 World Cup has therefore made it possible to continue expanding the list of players, especially young ones, in the orbit of the National Team and, as Sergio Scariolo commented before the game in Huelva against the Netherlands, “continue progressing not only in the classification but also in the growth of the players, their involvement in our family at a human, technical, tactical level, to broaden the base of those eligible and have direct sensations of players who come from our youth academy, who They have come out and for a few years they have been a little away from the National Team but they are always in our orbit and we follow them”.

With the 29 players used in the 14 games played, “We have been able to compete and continue in our line, which is to bet on the Spanish player, provide alternatives and opportunities so that the youngsters who come out of our academy can take the step when they deserve it, and that when a player demonstrates for months and years to be able to join the National Team by another path, that is, the League, do it too ”. The objective achieved has therefore been double, without ruling out that in the last two games, next February, with the classification already assured, some more players will make the leap.
