Since 1976, when Sofía Ltda. was founded, the Anglarill Serrate family, sole owner of the company, laid the foundations for work on solid family values ​​such as ethics, environmental awareness, and care and fair treatment of employees. In essence, they are the pillars that lay the foundation for the work culture and determine decision-making in all of the firm’s activities.

Another of the company’s main values ​​is solidarity. Thusmonthly supports the work of different foster homes and communities on a national scale, contributing to the nutrition of vulnerable groups. In addition, since this year, together with the Food Bank, whose headquarters are in Cochabamba, it reaches more than 6,500 people with foods rich in protein, such as chicken and pork, and weekly requests for support for social causes.

Sofía Ltda. also joined the work carried out by UNICEFto raise awareness through talks on family well-being to its employees in the cities of La Paz and El Alto, and has volunteer teams with which social and environmental programs are carried out.

On the other hand, the company has made alliances with sports schools in Santa Cruz and, soon, in the city of La Paz, with which it works for the benefit of communities and internal collaborators through sports campaigns. Likewise, the company already had alliances with public and private universities in the country, with which it works on job placement, student internships and projects aimed at sustainability.

Sofía Ltda. is committed to Bolivian families and, over time, it has developed a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) actions in various fields such as social support, education, professional development, support for the local economy, encouragement of sports, volunteering, care for the environment and circular economy, among others.

In 2020, the company integrated the CSR division into its organizational structure and, in June 2021, it took another step towards sustainability by becoming the first company in the food sector on a national scale to adhere to the Global Compact, commit to its principles and participate in the largest corporate responsibility initiative in the world. Since 2021, Sofía Ltda. has been in the process of aligning and systematizing the activities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) promoted by the Global Compact.

“We are working under the guidelines of the Global Compact and its pillars: Human Rights, Decent Work, Environment and Anti-corruption. Additionally, we have identified the SDGs in which we can contribute from our activities”, they point out from the firm.
