The Astrada de Marciac kicks off its season from Friday September 30 to Sunday October 2. With a multidisciplinary program, this opening weekend invites the whole family to discover music and circus, between Marciac and Plaisance.
The Astrada reserves the first weekend of October every year for its traditional season opening. A three-day meeting to mark the kick-off of the cultural program of the performance hall, which takes over two Gers bastides for the occasion: Plaisance and Marciac. “Each village hosts a different show from what is presented during the year”, explained Fanny Pagès, director of Astrada, a few days before the presentation of the season. “We hope that the Gersois will be curious”.
The festivities therefore begin in the heart of the Marciac associative café La Peñac this Friday, September 30, from 9 p.m., with the Toulouse group Le Grand silence. Composed of 10 musicians, the large ensemble plays a repertoire inspired by American cinema and the great outdoors. The current jazz concert is free.
A participative show to appropriate the popular festival
The entertainment then continues on Saturday October 1, still in Marciac, with, from 7 p.m., a joyful street, pyrotechnic and musical show at the Astrada. The Collective Party takes the public on board in its “Fête Fête” number: an extraordinary stroll that invites spectators to party and to conceive it alongside artists in all transgression. This participative show questions the public on how one can appropriate a popular festival. The performance ends with a ball.
Thus, from 8:30 p.m., the Astrada takes out the large tables and colorful garlands for a convivial moment. Everyone is invited to bring their picnic or to order from the restaurateurs of Marciac, in order to share the meal together. And the party goes on all evening.
Finally, on Sunday October 2, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., the meeting is given in the multipurpose hall of Plaisance for two performances of “L’empreinte”, created by the Gers company “L’Attraction celeste”. An “unclassifiable” circus show in which the two performers Servane Guittier and Antoine Manceau abandon their red noses for an intense creation, full of humor and emotion. The two circus artists tell how we relate to each other, how sometimes memories fade to leave room for emptiness. They draw the public into a musical spectacle, where surprise, laughter and tears mingle in an intimate circular space.
“A joyful din” to share with the family.
The opening weekend is a family meeting for the general public. Both shows are free for children under 14. Prices: 10 euros (one show); 16 euros (for both shows). Reservations and information: lastrada-marciac.fr or 09 64 47 32 29.
