“Youth, family and society” Meeting of the Women of Peace Federation

“The Role of Youth in Family and Society” is the theme of the webinar to be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 12:00 Italian time, organized by the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWPI). Speakers: Sumina Lam, from Hong Kong; Mardilyn B. Garcia, from the Philippines; Cintia Nabi Cabral, from Portugal; and Sharon Kabubi, from the UK. The meeting will be moderated by Kefilwe Lebepe, WFWPI Young Professionals Team Leader and Sunhwa Marchan.
Young professionals from around the world play an active role in building and developing peace, raising their voices for positive change, coexistence and harmony. Young people are the builders of the future of their countries and of the world. In this webinar, the Federation wishes to focus on the role of young people in the family and in society, to contribute to a culture of community. Speakers will share success stories, good practices and decision-making processes that have effectively addressed major crises in various areas of life responsibilities.
Introducing the event, Elisabetta Nistri, president of the Italian section of the WFWP, ha
stated that “the Women’s Federation recognizes the importance of the role of contemporary youth as a resource for the future and is committed to supporting and encouraging girls to assume positions of responsibility, maintaining and cultivating their unique feminine characteristics”. You also explained that “through the offices of the WFWP at the UN in Geneva and Vienna, internship training courses are periodically organized, through which young girls can enter the world of diplomacy and international relations”. You went on to observe that many young people feel crushed by emerging crises and lose faith in the future and the courage to get involved. Others, on the other hand, have the desire and the strength to react, as with the ‘No to war!’ demonstrations. and ‘Let’s protect the planet!’. “This enthusiasm is admirable” she remarked, adding that “we need to seriously listen to their cry and reason together to see how to move on to concrete actions. Decisions are to be taken jointly, because young people will be the ones who will inherit the result of today’s choices”. At the end of the presentation you explained that the Federation has been offering training courses in schools for some time, to support young people in forming a balanced, mature and responsible character.
