On the eve of the release of the animated film Strange Worldwe were able to attend a press conference bringing together the main actors, the two directors and the producer.

Disney’s original adventure feature film follows the Clades, a legendary family of explorers setting out to conquer a hostile uncharted land alongside a ragtag crew that includes a mischievous blob, a three-legged dog and a horde of voracious creatures.

From the outset, producer Roy Conli talks about the diversity within this atypical family. ” Our team is very diverse at Disney “, he says. ” We really wanted a film that represented the real world. We could have just put the characters in blue, but we wanted it to look like the world we live in. »

I’ve never seen a cast so dedicated to a story.”he continues. “Since day 1 that Jake [Gyllenhaal]Gabriella [Union]Dennis [Quaid] and Jaboukie [Young-White] joined in the film, they were all invested in the story. That’s one of the amazing things about animation, it’s an inclusive art form and everyone contributes. There are 450 people involved in this film and these four have done an exceptional job of bringing their characters to life. »

He’s the actor Jake Gyllenhaal who lends his voice to the protagonist, Clade. ” First, it was the story that attracted me to this project. I could smell from Don [Hall]Who [Nguyen] and Roy [Conli] that it came from a truth. Don said that the original story of the film is inspired by something personal. […] Then, I was able to bring my own family and my own experience into all of this, especially my voice since it’s animation. My dad went to the movies this weekend and he heard my voice when he went to get some popcorn, then he saw my character and he freaked out!

Working with them is really fantastic since they are open for us to contribute to the project. And, little by little, the animators observe our face, our gait, our facial expressions and the character becomes us during a strange transformation. »
