Benjamin Vicuna Y Eleanor Varela They are one of the protagonists of “Lie to Me“, the new comedy of Prime Video directed by Sebastián Schindel and created by Lucas Akoskin, husband of the actress. In the run-up to its premiere, the actors confess that this project was very familiar and that they thoroughly enjoyed it, despite the adversities that arose along the way.
“We are very motivated, happy and with a super premiere that comes to give a comedy option on the Prime Video platform. It is a film that is very well made, written and acted. We hope that the public can enjoy it”, says the actor in an interview with TimeX.
“Lie to me” will show the story of Bárbara, a woman who has just experienced a great love disappointment and her friends, a married couple in crisis made up of Eva (Leonor Varela) and Matías (Lucas Akoskin), introduce her to Julián, the character of Benjamín Vicuña, who claims to be a prominent economist.
Quickly, the latter falls in love with the protagonist with his charms, however, the couple realizes that there is something strange in him, suspecting that he is an impostor. Both begin to investigate it, unraveling along the way a series of lies both from Julián and from themselves.
“The film deals with lies, how they are culturally accepted and how serious a lie is, whether it is white or nuanced.; also, to what extent a lie can be pious or to what extent an omission can be almost supportive or perverse with the other. In this sense, my character is the one who deals with that world the most, the world of lies, to what extent it can be a little trick, something clumsy or a crime”, Benjamin Vicuña advances.
The special reunion of Benjamín Vicuña and Leonor Varela
Leonor Varela tells that with Lucas Akoskin they traveled from the United States to Chile for the premiere of “Lie to me” with her daughter and her beloved puppy, Vito, who also had an important role in the film.
Regarding the premiere of the film, Leonor Varela confesses: “We are happy, because this is a very homemade project, very familiar. This is something that comes from my husband’s brain, we did it together, we wanted to add Benjamín immediately and look for Sebastián (screenwriter and director). They worked the script until they got financing and sold it to Amazon.”
“I am very proud of him (Lucas). It is a job that is not minor and very happy to arrive at this moment. It is like giving birth to the child without the pain”, add.
Benjamín Vicuña, a friend of Leonor Varela and Lucas Akoskin, agrees with this sentiment, assuring: “We feel like family and we live it happily. There was a very good dressing room, with good treatment.”
The actors assure that despite this comfortable work environment, the team was dealing with a series of difficulties, such as Covid-19 and the high temperatures in Argentina, which were the antagonists of “Lie to me”.
“We recorded it in January and February, when the Omicron began, in the heat of the heat wave, it was 40 degrees and we got sick. The technicians fell, us, one after another”, Leonor Varela closes.
The new film by Benjamín Vicuña and Leonor Varela, “Lie to Me“, premieres on Wednesday, September 21 exclusively in the Prime Video catalog, available in more than 240 countries and territories around the world.
