EL NUEVODIARIO, RD. MOCA, ESPAILLAT PROVINCE.- The executive director of the Eco-tourism Cluster of the Espaillat Province, Inc. (PROESPAILLAT), Ms. Anllela Rivas, highlighted that this institution has the mission of promoting this geographical demarcation as an important national tourist destination, publicizing its valuable natural resources and beautiful historical, cultural, gastronomic, religious and sports traditions.
“In each of the five municipalities and municipal districts that make up our beautiful Espaillat province, we have valuable natural resources to promote mountain, community and rural tourism; important museums, parks, squares and historical monuments; beautiful temples and religious centers to visit; an extraordinary gastronomic offer, with a variety of dishes, mainly the delicious mofongo”, explained the social manager.
When participating as a guest in the television program Coctel Político, which is hosted and produced by journalist and lawyer Nicolás Arroyo Ramos through Moca vision channel 48, she highlighted that PROESPAILLAT promotes actions that show the face of a province with a vocation for agricultural production and livestock, with great potential in tourism, but also, that the development of provincial tourism is carried out within the commitment to the conservation of the environment and natural resources.
He explained that as an Ecotourism Cluster they promote Moca, the head municipality of Espaillat, as an important space to be visited by national and international tourists, with the purpose that when they enter, they learn about its history, the participation of their children in the libertarian and revolutionary struggle of the country. ; indicating that they will equally be able to visit the temples and religious places of the community, among which the temples of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus stand out.
It meant that the arrival of tourists to Moca, allows you to visit places with a great connection with the history and life of the community, such as the Presidente Ramón Cáceres Museum, in Estancia Nueva. Rivas, indicated that during this year training in environmental management of ecotourism projects has been carried out, benefiting 171 young people from all over the province; He also highlighted an important meeting between clusters from the entire Cibao region, convened by PROESPAILLAT, for the purpose of generating a SWOT diagnosis.
When explaining about the strategies used by the Cluster to promote tourism in all its diversity and how the actors of the value chain get involved, the executive director stated that they work hard and without fainting in the promotion of destinations, participating in fairs of national and international character, in which gastronomy entrepreneurs, tour operators and others have the opportunity to market the service and connect with other destinations.
“We have also coordinated visits from producers and influencers, who have provided significant coverage of Espaillat’s offer for tourists. In each of the meetings we hold, we promote the values and resources that each of the municipalities in this province have” , exposed Ms. Rivas, in her participation in the renowned space of regional television.
The Espaillat ecotourism cluster arose from the initiative of the Association for the Development of the Espaillat province, through the reforestation project in the Jamao river basin, which brought about the development of the Sustainable Community Tourism project, where with the support of international organizations, has allowed the development of rural tourism.
PROESPAILLAT bets in its project on the training and accompaniment of the actors in the value chain, the projection of destinations, the care of the environment and the preservation of natural resources, activities that it develops under the umbrella of the Ministry of Tourism that subsidizes this Non-Profit Association.
Espaillat is the subject of the strategy developed by the central government, entitled “Tourism in each Corner”, as a recognition of the historical, cultural, gastronomic and natural diversity that make us an emerging and irresistible destination, he concluded. He said that the municipality of San Víctor, with its special Monte de Oración, agricultural and livestock wealth, where excellent tobacco is produced; the Boulevard de los chicharrones and its artistic and pictorial tradition represent an important center for provincial tourism.
He stressed that the municipality of Jamao al Norte and its residents have undertaken a large project called “Jamao Ecotur”, in which they take advantage of the natural resources of this region for the development of community tourism. “This project has already changed the lives of thousands of families throughout this area, with these activities they receive significant income that improves their quality of life and that of the family,” he explained.
