After its debut a few days ago in Prague, it will be staged in the first national stage next Friday 25 November at 21.00 at the NEST-Napoli Est Teatro, as part of the seventh edition of “Quartieri di Vita. Life Infected With Social Theater!”, “Why not me?/Why not me?”, the work of Jana Svobodovà, the result of a residency conducted by the director in December last year and in June 2022 in Naples with the young artists of San Giovanni a Teduccio led by Andrea Vellotti.

The show, included in the calendar of celebrations on the occasion of the centenary of the first Italian Cultural Institute, founded in Prague in 1922, is co-produced by Arca Theater (Prague), NEST Napoli Est Teatro, Fondazione Campania dei Festival/Quartieri di Vita. Life Infected Social Theatre!, with the support of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague, and the Czech Center in Rome.

A workshop, which has now become a show in the Neapolitan language, made up of sharing, listening, mutual respect and unexpected discoveries, where the protagonists are the authors of the texts, scenography, light design and musical inputs. Nine stories of kids who live in Naples and love the theater, dream of participating in a film by Sorrentino, starred in a series on Netflix and in a short film nominated for an Italian Oscar, aspire to be playwrights, poets, professional actors. Alessandra works in a bar, Domenico cleans cars in the family business, Daniela works in a pizzeria until late at night, Luigi teaches economics in high school, Lorenzo plays soccer for money, and Alessandro is a DJ. These are some of the names and their daily activities. They want to stand out, be recognized, make a big dream come true. Young artists from the east area of ​​Naples who tell their story through the power of evocative images, capable of containing other worlds. An extreme listening, where the creative process is generated by an individual sharing. To give life to a theatrical text born from the experiences of the actors and rendered in the form of interviews, in which the director becomes, by her own admission, “a guide to their discoveries” through “a colorful investigation”. The performers are Alessandro Berlin, Luigi Cardone, Luigi D’Amore, Daniela De Vita, Michele Ferrantino, Claudia Fico, Lorenzo Izzo, Alessandra Mantice & Domenico Moccia. The dramaturg is Andrea Vellotti.

“Living quarters. Life infected with Social Theatre!”, Training and social theater festival of the Campania dei Festival Foundation conceived by the artistic director Ruggero Cappuccio, is realized with the support of the Campania Region, the Ministry of Culture and EUNIC Global, in partnership with the Eunic- European Union National Institutes for Culture of Rome and Naples.
