Cuba Gooding Jr. is in Barranquilla with another Hollywood star: the actors will visit three more cities in Colombia

The inhabitants of Barranquilla (Atlantic) were surprised with an unexpected visit from two internationally recognized Hollywood stars: Cuba Gooding Jr. and Mars Callahanwho came to ‘The Sandy’ to know the city and analyze the film projects that they plan to launch in the country.

Mars Callahan, Actor, producer, and film director, best known for the film Poolhall Junkies, and Cuba Gooding Jr., Oscar winner for best supporting actor for Jerry McMaguire and best remembered for his work on pearl harbor Y Men of Honorbegan their long journey through Colombia in the capital of the Atlantic, from where they will later move to Cartagena de Indias, Medellin and Bogota.

Among the first activities carried out by the actors when they landed at the Ernesto Cortissoz airport in Barranquilla, was a walk through the dock of port colombiawhere they not only got to know the city’s beaches, but also took the opportunity to visit the sculptures built in honor of immigrants that have arrived in the country through the department of Atlántico.

Among them was the statue of William Nox Martinthe American pioneer of aviation in Colombia and grandfather of Mars Callahan. Among other things, Nox is remembered for build the Colombian Air Force and inaugurate in 1919 together with the businessman Mario Santo Domingo the air mail in the country.

“Hollywood visit in Puerto Colombia! Actors Mars Callahan and Cuba Gooding Jr., Oscar winners in 1997, They toured the plaza and the pier and learned about its historical importance, while moving forward with film projects in Colombia”, informed the Government of the Atlantic through its Twitter account.

The agenda of Cuba Gooding Jr. and Mars Callahan ended in the edgar renteria stadium where they threw the first ball of the match between Los Caimanes and the Toros de Sincelejowithin Colombian Professional Baseball League.

“In love with Colombia”Cuba Gooding Jr. wrote on his Instagram account where he posted a video of the ball being released.

But the American actors did not come to Colombian soil just to visit, among their plans are to start new film projects in the country and, in their words, give an Oscar to the national territory.

“He (William Nox Martin) brought aviation to Colombia, implemented airmail and Air Force. Imagine what that meant at that time, they surely thought it was a UFO, it was a new technology for the country. Now, more than a hundred years later, his grandson does the same, bringing new technologydeclared Mars Callahan to the newspaper El Heraldo, referring to the fact that he wants to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps.

In dialogue with the EFE news agency, Callahan explained that, together with Cuba Gooding Jr., they will seek “create a legacy of film and television production that tells a new story of Colombia”.

I want to bring a technology platform that is free so that people can be creative. I haven’t done it yet but I intend to meet with the president. And I think the vision for the future is aligned and I think that we can create a story and a narrative that benefits not only Colombia but all of Latin America”, Callahan noted to EFE.

It is worth mentioning that the two actors are currently partners of Veuita platform that, according to the news agency, is considered as the world’s first social media organization built on Web 3.0 and blockchain technologies.

The Oscar winner told EFE that, through these platforms, in Colombia and other countries it will be possible to develop large projects such as cinematographic.

“What is the biggest show in the UK? The Crown. That happened because they went to Hollywood and asked for help. So that Hollywood went to the UK and then they created the stars, Gooding Jr. told the news agency.

Immediately afterwards, the Oscar winner added: Now here we are in Colombia, bringing Hollywood to Colombia. Nobody sees the incredible talents that are in Colombia, in Mexico, in Korea and Japan, but they don’t stop there. They don’t stay in their country.”.

Among the curiosities of the visit of callahan and Gooding Jr. to Barranquilla, the American producer revealed to the newspaper El Heraldo that he had the opportunity to meet some relatives that he did not know he had in ‘La Arenosa’. “Today I met them and it was very exciting to be able to hug them”Callahan commented to the Barranquillero newspaper.
