For Thierry Breton, sovereignty “is the ability to control one’s destiny”

Sovereignty is at the heart of all concerns in Europe, but this word “does not resonate in the same way when it is used in France, Latvia, Greece or Denmark”, underlined the European Commissioner for the Internal Market , Thierry Breton.

Sovereignty “has absolutely nothing to do with isolationism”, “it is the ability to control one’s destiny in all circumstances”, affirmed Thierry Breton.

“What is Alstom’s raison d’être? We have a strong conviction: the world of mobility must change”, explained Henri Poupart-Lafarge on the stage of the BFM Awards.

With the desire to make mobility more sustainable, the group has signed numerous rail contracts in recent months.

“The impact of our solutions is exported around the world, continued Henri Poupart-Lafarge. Rail transport must not only serve passengers, citizens, but the investment itself must serve the country and therefore the “Investment must be made in the country. So, for the past ten years, we have been committed to localizing what we do”.

“Seize the moments of uncertainty to take a step forward”

“There are a lot of uncertainties. That said, uncertainties are part of life”, assured Maurice Lévy, chairman of the supervisory board of Publicis, for whom it is necessary “to seize these moments of uncertainty to take a step in forward, sometimes a giant leap”.

The Chinese character of “crisis” means “both crisis and opportunity”, he stressed, calling for “seeing both”.

“There is indeed a context of crisis that we know well […]but alongside that there are quality entrepreneurs, people who are absolutely determined to succeed, and that’s the most precious thing,” said Maurice Lévy.

A brand new trophy this year

This 18th ceremony will be the occasion to inaugurate a brand new statuette. Inspired by the design of the BFM logo, this new trophy is elegant and warm thanks to its material – wood in a light shade – with luminous reflections.

The idea: to offer a statuette in an eco-responsible material. 28 centimeters high, this trophy was entirely designed in-house by BFM’s artistic direction team.

The issue of sovereignty “has taken on a new dimension”

“We see with the recent challenges” that the question of sovereignty “has taken on a new dimension”, underlined the general manager of Dassault, Bernard Charlès, citing in particular the cloud and cybersecurity. Dassault Systèmes, La Poste and Bouygues Telecom announced in October a “100% French” cloud project which should see the light of day in 2023.

According to the leader of Dassault Systèmes, these sovereignty issues could generate competitiveness and employment in Europe.

“Look how China built its leaders: it protected its market, it invested in research and created high-tech leaders who are remarkable today. The United States did the same thing,” said- he advanced.

Bernard Charlès won the grand prize for Manager of the Year in 2021.
